Second Grade Teachers
Jeri Gordon
Being a teacher at TPES means you will have opportunities to work with diverse cultures and develop a level of understanding about each other in order to facilitate collaboration and cooperation as well as be challenged to think outside the box and on your feet (rather than a program) to bring about deeper understanding of subject matter and promote students to question and share their own viewpoints/opinions.

I love teaching and nurturing my students. I work hard, yet consider my job as my hobby too! After all, I literally get paid to do the Hokey Pokey! I have been teaching since 1990 and love teaching reading and math! When a student's eyes light up because they get the concept, strategy, or idea makes my heart so happy.
Erika Saldivar
My name is Mrs. Erika Saldivar. I’ve been part of the Torrey Pines Community for 20 years! I am teaching 2nd grade for the 2023-2024 school year. I have been teaching for 23 years! Second graders have the best imaginations, are learning to take risks, become more independent, and develop and grow friendships. I believe strongly in lifting the ceiling for all students to reach their academic potential! When I’m not teaching, you can find me enjoying the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends.
Tony Serafin
This is my 28th year of teaching, all at Torrey Pines Elementary. I enjoy working with future doctors, musicians, engineers, and leaders. When not teaching, can probably be found surfing, paddling canoes and kayaks, or traveling. Oftentimes I combine these things.
