Fifth Grade Teachers

For me, teaching at Torrey Pines has always been about being allowed to use creative ways to engage students.  In that regard, I have been lucky that this community has had a willingness to allow teaching that might be outside-the-box.  In addition, as a staff, I feel we have always had good rapport when it comes to sharing ideas and furthering our collective learning curve.  Thus, our teaching at Torrey Pines is about acceptance and trust.  I feel confident that we each know how to help kids thanks to our vast individual experience as well as our willingness to help each other grow.

Teaching at Torrey Pines means building lifelong connections to families. It’s having former students’ families reaching out to you years later with updates and checking in to see how you’re doing.

Being a teacher at TPES means I am part of a unique community.  Being a 5th grade teacher means I get to be part of the lives of the children of this neighborhood.  I get to help students come into their own.  As their last teacher before middle school, I get to help give students confidence and strength to go into the world ready to advocate for themselves.  Also, as a 5th grade teacher at TPES, I get the chance to make the last year of elementary school a very fun one for my students.
